@Duttyrock3 I have got a 1965 Coronet 440 4 door with the 318 Poly and 727 torqueflite, we bought it for $175 and the body is almost perfect, couple dings here and there and some minor minor body rust, we rebuilt the engine and everything that needs to be done to drive perfectly, the thing is QUICK and yes very hard to stop at times. let me know if you would like to compare pics :)
Yo man whats up, i got a '66 coronet 440 trim 318 wide block,2 door, red on black interior, starts first crank, never failed me. its quick but hard to stop, you probably know what i mean lol.
So yes a LA 318 can run good. I would do a stroker over a turbo kit but, that's just me and I don't think there is any strokers for the Poly engine so I don't know.
I have a 68 Coronet 2dr 440 trim line. It is a LA 318/904 transmission 8 3/4 rear with 2.76 open gears. I have a small Summit Cam; Double Roller timing chain; Electronic Ignition and Summit Headers with Summit Mufflers. Weiand intake with a 600 Edelbrock carburetor and my heavy car runs 15.2 with the 2.76 gears which is decent for what most guys consider a boat anchor engine.
Thanks to let us ride with you - virtually. Nice car, please restore it and keep it as close to stock as possible. I assume the 66 Coronets /w 318 engine used the poly 318. It's a powerful and torque monster compared to any stock 318 LA engines. If possible get a 4bbl stock iron intake manifold to improve the power a little bit.
That 318 will love you if you go and clean out the exhaust and get some turbo mufflers for it, then go and get a new (in the box) stock-spec catalytic converter. You're obviously doing the right thing by not thinking it's a damn race car, which is why all you have to do is keep up on oil change, and just basically start replacing all the old parts with factory-spec stuff. Plus, stock parts are WAY cheaper than race parts. Have fun man, and that Coronet is cool.
man thats cool. When I was a kid, my parents had a 66 coronet wagon, and even as a kid I used to love that car. Something about those straight, clean, crisp body lines. it's my dream one day to own one.
It is too bad people don't respect vintage cars like they should. They think anything older than 10 yrs old and is anything other than a Japanese car (in my case, Toyota), it's a piece of shit car. I would buy any American car if it runs and everything works on the car. Awesome car you have. Do you still have it? Have you done anything to it since this video?

Nice car. I love vintage American cars, particularly those built during the mid to late 60s. It sounds good.
