Dedicated to The Everyman Youth Theatre and photo-booths. This poem was inspired by the four best years of my life. From 1979-1983 my world changed when I joined the Everyman Youth Theatre. The title came from my friend Lyn who sent me a photo-booth picture of that time and called it Planet Young. I called my first book of poetry Planet Young in honour of her. This piece is about how brilliant being young can be. The E.Y.T. enriched so many lives and was the invisible jewel in the crown of Liverpool. A big shout out to photo-booths, safe spaces that have been documenting teenagers for decades. Gx
Everything started there and then. Roger Hill bought me trousers to do a movement workshop. I used them and he kept them. The names, the people, Oh God I was mad then. I went every Tuesday or Thursday, 1982. I was 18. Hyperactive. I left my A levels and joined a theatre group the year after. That was the Everyman. The back door, the concrete steps, the new people.
I loved Brian. Remember him fondly. Loved Dr. Who and so did you, I remember.
