The F.S.L.N Sandinistas under President Ortega were voted out of power modestly in 1990 due in part to the country being worn down by Washington backed terrorism. Sixteen years on you had right wing governments and privatization policies which took the Sandinista strides and only eroded them. Since Ortega and the F.S.L.N have been back in power , once again we are seeing lower infant mortality, illiteracy and rates of disease than ever before.

The Sandinistas and Somozas were in no way whatsoever "equally" bad for Nicaragua!
Somoza was a dictator who ruled for decades upon the peoples backs making his crony deals with the local rich elite and American business to exploit Nicaragua.
The Sandinistas were democratically elected, dramatically increased literacy, health care, education, and social programs to help those that overthrew the dictatorship. For that they were subjected to terrorism by the Reaganuts. Big freakin difference
