I was there also - Absolutely pristine start followed up by Brutal winds and Swells. I lasted 45 minutes in this water and literally swam passed the 2nd buoy (2nd left turn) without seeing it. Got pulled out at 45 minutes - totally disappointed that I did not finish race, but at the same time, very proud that I swam 45 minutes in these water conditions alongside some of the best athletes in the world! St. George 1, IronmanKevinT 0 - I will be back!

I was there and it was intense. I found that if you relaxed and didn't fight the waves and worked with them you could do it. The biggest problem was the sighting. All the buoys were blown off course!

I was there as my wife was competing. The conditions in the water were intense. What was weird was all was calm, then as soon as the sun came full up the wind picked up fast. By the time the age-groupers were turning into the long side of the swim the wind gusts were pushing me off my feet. I had to lean into the wind a bit. Anyhow, the conditions were an anomaly—but they were no joke. Many people did not make the swim cut, and from what I understand many people were brought in by boat or canoe.
