You have a wonderful treasure in your backyard there. I'm amazed that it doesn't seem to mind your touch either--I think you should make a video of you petting it or giving it some raw meat. You should also search for a vid with "messages from an owl" that shows another odd example of a human-friendly owl that likes grapes.

Olive met a unfortunate death because the parents lured her away from the safety of out patio. But her clutch mate, Sweetpea, stayed in our yard until November of 2010. We still hear an owl some evenings but have not seen it. We tell ourselves it's Sweetpea. The nest the parents have used two consecutively 2009 & 2010 isn't being used this year. We will miss watching the owls grow.
