Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI) 2009 Conference & 26th International Congress of Chemotherapy and Infection"
The reported rate of infectious syphilis has been increasing in both males and females over the past decade. In recent years, localized outbreaks of infectious syphilis have been reported in a number of locations in Canada. Of particular concern, from a public health perspective is the increase in congenital syphilis cases in Canada.
In response, the Public Health Agency of Canada acknowledges the need to increase capacity amongst health professionals in the prevention, diagnosis and management of syphilis cases. Access to the presentations and expert panel discussions of case studies from the symposium provides an opportunity for a greater number of health professionals to enhance their knowledge and skill in syphilis control and case management.
You can visit the Public Health Agency of Canada's web site to see full length recordings of the presentations , case studies and transcripts of the symposium recordings: http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/std-mts/video/syphilis-symposium-s6-eng.php
