Now I know I am not the only one: Everyday when I was walking to work from Nussbaumen to Baden, I kept looking at the same thing! It is indeed quite interesting.

Interesting!
Well, hope I know smth about fluid dynamics because I've been learning it in institute over the last three years:) The thing is that I'm going to study shear layer instability with some special technique, it will be my graduate work.
There is just a problem: we get quite well theoretical education, but we have almost no experimental background. That concerns not only physics of fluids, but also the whole physics. So for me this is kind of sweets for a kid:)

This video is from the Altstadt side of hte holzbrücke. But surely you don't pass that on the way from Nussbaumen. I guess you mean the old damn under Rieden which is now a footbridge. If I remember from diving off a few times last summer that there's some nice flow visualisations going on there too. Didn't have my camera with me though :-(

Amazing! The pattern's so clear! I guess you're quite observant, thanks a lot for posting this.
How did you manage to shoot it?

Thanks. I just saw it one day in the river and happened to have my camera with me. I'm always looking out for examples of fluid flows in nature.
What do you know about fluid mechanics/dynamics?
What's with the einstein/joker thing?
