I don't think you should group anything at all. Sure there are some generalizations to be made, but again, don't paint everything so ubiquitously. I'm from the southern US and I have grandparents in Canada who I visit fairly regularly. I always feel like I fit in just fine. But then again, New Orleans does differ from a lot of the south in terms of politics, etc.
