Being a wee kid when her show was on, can anyone tell me if it was a success? And what was it about exactly?

"Dolly" debuted September 27, 1987 on ABC. It was a variety show, music and comedy skits. ABC Studios paid Dolly $1 million per episode, 22 episodes per year and a 2 year contract. After attempts to revive the failing show, "Dolly" was canceled after 22 episodes. The last show aired May 10, 1988. Although the show didn't make it, Dolly won 2 People's Choice Awards in 1988 for the show: "Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series" and "Favorite All Around Female Performer."
