Thrum were formed in 1986 by Scars members Paul & John, with Murray Bruce (ex Metropak) and Neil Braidwood (ex The Freeze & The Delmontes.) We played live around London for a while, and recorded a handful of acoustic songs - some traditional - some of our own. Around 1990 Thrum were dissolved, and everyone went to do other stuff. We had no idea at the time that a band from Glasgow (no relation) were to choose the same name.
Shoals 'o' Herring was written by Ewan McColl in the late 1950's. It is a celebration of the once proud North Sea herring fishing industry.
