  • Another interesting point Mystery brought up when he was talking about our brains being geared for life 40000 years ago. Although there have been changes (in plasticity-our average intelligence has gone up and cognitive capabilities like language and writing have become more complex), a part of the brain (insula cortex) actually responds to social bond breaking. It's why people break up and get back together(this area makes them dwell over the decision since greater number of bonds=survival)

  • @TeKNiQ50 the first thing you mentioned is a common misconception. Scientists pretty much agree on one thing, which is that the brain we have today is identical to up until 50.000 years ago... The wiring to read and write, compose music ( and all other areas where you can measure human complexity, innovations and creativity ) have been present, and the neuron-pathways/wiring to invent and use future technology is present in humans today, it's just potential not discovered yet.

  • is that hypnotica in the blue shirt in the background?

  • @otakukid34 No, It's Wolverine

  • @geostigma123 Some people actually think brain size has decreased over the past 50000 years while others think it has increased. There's no general consensus. But there is evidence suggesting there's been changes.

  • @geostigma123 I was wrong in phrasing that like a statement. But scientific opinion is divided on the issue.

It's msnbc - I know, lol. IMO there have to have been changes to some degree in the brain (including reading/writing circuitry) because there's been an increased emphasis on communication. We didn't just stop changing 50 000 years ago.

  • Running theory about asymmetry and attraction that Mystery kinda stumbled over is that facial and body symmetry reflect an individual's resistance to parasites/viruses/bacteria(basically asymmetry = weak immune system) and therefore signal that the individual would produce offspring with weak immune systems. So naturally, we're geared to be attracted to symmetrical individuals because it signals immune health.

  • My mom is one Chef Boyardee from kicking me out and i'm 24 lol
