A handful of senior guys falling through the cracks is all this is...nothing more...in the mean time scan those packages!!!!

LOL...They should send these camera's down underground at night and watch the capital contruction guys on the night tour and then I want to hear people talk and complain about loafting...How many people get killed every year at your jobs? Injured, killed or maimed...as per the rule book think about that for a second...Capital rebuilds the subways regular maintenance just maintains the tracks funny how that interview cut off the explanation of the union president so short...very funny...

I wish someone would investigate news reporters! And compare how much they work compared to how much they get paid!
There altitude towards working people ESPECIALLY Civil Servants is that they feel they are way above them and should work as slaves with no benefits!
The Employees are not the reason they raise the fair or cut service! It's because of the major corruption in the MTA but, apparently even though that was proven there's nothing that can be done about it.

@TheEdumacator These assholes shouldn't get $20,000 a year.

@nyctrackmac Or maybe you can try having your salary proportionate to the work you do? You and your shameless union are part of the reason why trains aren't punctual, stations are falling apart, and fares are rising. All that money for "track work" goes down the drain. Lazy, greedy vermin! Lay off workers or at the very least, decrease hours!

everyone has to answer to someone higher in this case with mta we are looking at upper upper management that's where the problem lies. I guess the mayor and the gov. is their boss but regardless something has to be done about the shoddy way mtas higher echelons is running mass transit. I've even heard that mta is far from being broke. the mayor & gov should step in & give an ultimatum get in shape or get the ax. these guys think they are invincible to being fired someone should show them diff

Union Labor = Lazy, unproductive, waste. MTA is no different than the UAW or any other union, which is nothing more than a place for lazy democrats to go and collect pay for no service rendered. Unions are also a front for the countrys largest money laundering racket. The democrat party. Loose the unions, and we gain our country back. Facts are facts folks

Culture of waste and abuse sound about right. You can usually tell where there is abuse. Look at all of them with big bellys

The MTA is a big expensive joke. It is mismanaged and utterly disinterested in prioritizing service. Less and less human beings at booths, or available to answer their phone -- and good luck finding a bus driver that can answer a question about the route or why buses are an hour behind schedule. I am walking wherever possible, no matter the distance. The service used to be better years ago when they were charging far less. Charging more is a joke. They don't need cameras on buses.

wow i want to work for the mta... i brake my back working for ups lifting packages. i wish i could get paid to do nothing for 8hours and only do half an hour of actual work....
I am not against people getting paid well for a hard days' work, which covers many thousands of people doing grueling and dangerous jobs throughout the New York City transit system. However, municipal, state and federal employees across the nation get compensation and benefits that not only outpace most compensation for the same work in the private sector, but also demand more spending from from public coffers than there is tax money coming in. THIS IS A PROBLEM, & WE NEED TO DEAL WITH IT.

THE MTA rakes in Billions of dollars a day, and they employ these media outlets to misdirect from their mismanagment of funds so that the public can take it out on the workers, wake up people these are unionized municipal workers and they have alot of downtime, why is it that with MTA workers its so much more outrageous then other higher paid city workers? The way they make it sound as if the employees are responsible for the fare hikes is utterly disgusting.

@alp294 MTA takes more money from their passengers than any other transit system in the country (go ahead, look it up). MTA workers are as often as not unhelpful, surly and hold in contempt their riders, the very source of their lavish benefits. You went on strike a few years ago because of a $10 copay? Most riders would love to have it so easy.

@Hanaokalele Lavish?? What you should be doing is championing the benefits for ALL workers. Not trying to take away benefits from the ones that have them. The 200 administrators that make 150,000 to 350,000 are the ones that have lavish benifits. 60,000 a year is only fair in these times. Those that make less should be arguing to raise wages. The senate hearings on youtube alone should open your eyes to the fact that the MTA is NOT transparant. The MTA makes these schedules not the workers.

@TheEdumacator I'm talking about fair wages in exchange for fair work. You're talking about 200 hundred administrators versus tens of thousands of TWU members. The Administration needs to cut the fat, no doubt. 60,000 a year for hard work is one thing; paying their pension at half salary for the rest of their lives after the age 55 retirement is unsustainable. Spiking pensions with unnecessary OT is also unaffordable. I made 32 grand last year--why should I pay more so these guys can loaf?
