At the transfer station is where the rubbish trucks unload their rubbish and it is collected and sent to the landfill after being compacted.

The bin is weighed to ensure that it meets road standards when it travels to the landfill. this load can have a little more added to it before it heads. It is a balancing act to ensure that as much waste can get to the landfill without needing to do extra trips and meeting road laws.

Thank you to "Kiwigarbo" for letting me film at the transfer station.

  • So what was he doing at the start exactly, something about balancing you said? How much are they allowed to squeeze into the containers?

  • @MitchellM15

At the start he was maneuvering the truck around to get in the best position to lift the bin. As to the weight, it all depends on the truck that is going to be taking it to the transfer station. Each truck has it own weight limit. Example would be how axles are placed on the truck. I can not recall now how much they get on average into each bin.
