Here's a demo of what the Yamaha DtxpressII pads can do if used while playing Rock Band. The pads are EXTREMELY responsive...in fact, they are TOO responsive. The pads pick up every little vibration, even vibrations that come off the rack. Thus, I had to tape foam all around the rack and inside the plastic shell of the pads themselves. This is only a prototype (prototype 2 to be exact) and is not the final product. I can five star songs with this set, however, the pads add extra notes due to vibrations. Thus, my score suffers by about 7,000 points. I LOVE the way the pads feel; there is so much more rebound that comes off of them. Anyone have any ideas about to stop the the renegade vibrations? I've tried everything... (Special thanks to Unit J, Definitely Maybe, and Bobo)

  • What material are those pads? They sound much quieter than those gum rubber pads I have been seeing on youtube.

  • These are also a rubber material, and yes they are much more quiet.

  • Very nice. Were you able to dampen the vibrations?

    BTW - Nice posters. :-)

  • lol. Thanks, but I'm still working on the vibrations.

  • It's cool, but not REALLY cool. It's still just 4 pads in a row. U need some cymbal action there and the pads arranged in a normal drum setup way.

  • The drums are actually really cool based on the way they feel. If I rearranged the way the pads are by default than I would risk moving a pad that might become a tom during (like the yellow or green pad). Welcome Home by Coheed is a perfect example of this. The pads must remain in a row because the song designers have this set up in mind when creating the drum tracks.
