Humble greetings to uploaders who know the West Coast Main Line so well.

For my first visit I chose the climb south of Tebay and Shap for the outward leg and the legendary Ribblehead Viaduct for the return. Sadly the latter was obliterated by cloud so a quick dash and a brief view leaving Helifield.

My style and skill and equipment (from filming aircraft) is using a long lens from a position a long way from the lineside; can anyone recommend locations on any UK line where the train is visible over a 2 or 3 minute period or more.

  • Superb and captivating - a joy to watch. Shap Wells offers a similar long distance view a few miles further up the line.
