QuakeCon 2005 Purri vs Doze Quake 2 Retro Final - Part 1/2

Hey.
Recently I watched the Quake finals take place between the Finish player damiah and the Swedish superstar Purri at EDL #7. During the finals when Purri was gaining control of the map the commentator made a note that "Purri finally being back in the Game after a long time". Meanwhile hearing this I remembered that, didn't Purri use to pwn pretty fricking hard in the old days?

So, after goggling and some desperate shootouts in the mIRC channels I received information about a match played in 2005. The match was a Qcon Final against the opponent doze. According to trusted sources this match was phenomenal. Quoting one bloke in a game channel.

"The sort of legendary and epicness had never been seen or will ever take place again", that's pretty rash and strong words isn't? But, don't take this bloke or my words for it. Instead, relax, sit back and enjoy the story about a hero in another universe. A world controlled by one man, a person that was respected and feared by all inhabitants of the world, a time when one man ruled everything, and that mans name is Purri. Good times.

I don't think they using any special. Been away from the Q2 scene a long time but there's no green-guided rockets, railgun clicks, mega health timer. Yeah. Despite luminous brightening and a none showing weapon model this is original Q2. Isn't it pretty? :)

@truckcompany no strafejumping in Q2? you need too check some videos about Q2 jumping theres just maps

that teaches you too jump fast and long.

that and the mods kept me playing Q2 for over 6 years(id still play but i liked the DM`s more)

you could always improve some little run in a deathmatch game

i wasnt any good , but its pure fun too watch purri go berzerk!!!

is he strafe jumping? I cant tell, I thought you cant strafe jump in quake 2

Yeh, it's not the original .paks.. Looks more like some high resolution pak =)

@torbjornhallberg Its not even close to the orig quake2.... it's editted quite a lot, i tried to find the pak though and it has disappeard out of existance :P it was a mix between purri's pak and the old knights teir clan pak i believe :)
