Wonderful. Subtle acting, and John Reed as Ko Ko is hilarious.

I don't hear a mention of that magnificent bass baritone, Donald Adams.
I remember hearing him in New York City's City Center, with notariously bad acoustics, filling the hall.
And one shouldn't forget the good work by Kenneth Sandford and Alan Styler.

@vonnycav Ah, Vincent Price as Sir Despard was a hilarious choice! And of course that's a role usually cast for humor rather than singing talent, anyway. He was supposed to be the "younger" brother of the romantic lead, the joke being that he was obviously much older than the man playing his "older" brother. (Would have been funnier if the older brother, "Young Robin Oak-apple," had been played by someone twenty-ish instead of fifty-ish... but, oh, well.)

Played Ko-Ko in my school's production of "The Mikado" last night. Had a sore throat.

Good lord, Valerie Masterton is beautiful...
Anyway, this is splendid, the finest possible.
Just wonderful. Love Ko Ko's dancing! Thanks for making me laugh.

This is my favorite Mikado version! John Reed as Ko Ko, Valerie Masterson as Yum Yum & Phillip Potter as Nanki Poo. Their acting was marvelous and nuanced. Christene Palmer was a magnificent Katisha and the Act 1 Finale is my favorite part, the best ever made....this is available on DVD. Best version ever

@OperaMystery80 Agreed. :) If you want overacted, caricatured G&S, this isn't the place to go. But for good old fashioned fun, the D'Oyly Carte is the shop for it!
