Mordecai Brown pitched for the Cubs in the 20's, he was nicknamed "Three Finger". Due to a farm-machinery accident in his youth, Brown lost parts of two fingers on his right hand] and eventually acquired his nickname as a result.
He played for the Chicago Cubs from 1904 until 1912. During this stretch, he won 20 or more games six times and was part of two World Series championships.

Billy Buckner was the Cub's first baseman who went to Boston. When Boston was poised to win their first World Series in 1986, Buckner made a fatal error in the 10th inning that lost them the 6th game and they ended up losing the series. The story goes that he was wearing his Cubs batting glove - if you look at a close-up of that picture you'll see him walking off the field with that batting glove. Cursed? You bet...
