Probably one of the best known Irish songs The Rose of Tralee is still a favourite among Irish emigrants all over the world. It has been sung by many Irish singers from the famous Irish tenor John Mc Cormack to many of today's singers. I hope you enjoy it.

The pale moon was rising above the green mountain,
The sun was declining beneath the blue sea,
When I strayed with my love to the pure crystal fountain,
That stands in the beautiful vale of Tralee.
She was lovely and fair like the rose of the summer,
Yet 'twas not her beauty alone that won me,
Oh no! 'twas the truth in her eye ever dawning,
That made me love Mary, the Rose of Tralee.

The cool shades of evening their mantle was spreading,
And Mary, all smiling, sat listening to me.
The moon through the valley her pale rays was shedding,
When I won the heart of the Rose of Tralee.
Though lovely and fair..........(as above)

  • Many thanks Eddie for your kind comment.

I don't really play at a very high level so you would have no bother playing like me.

Delighted you enjoyed the tune and I appreciate you taking the time to write a comment.
