the real battle is not just about weapons. many other factors that determine the outcome. such as the number of soldiers, fighting spirit, mental, Indonesia has seldom long in gaining independence. Netherlands has twice tidah military aggression but never won. padahalsaat that Indonesia uses only bamboo and crude equipment. and they gave up to take West Irian

australian just trying to find it east timor oil by sending their troops in disguise as UN peacemarker at the time when east timor already got it referendum/freedom. then seek a way to share oil portion by "A" oilfield which less oil 80% for East Timor,20% for Australia and "B" oilfield which lots of oil 80% Australia,20% East Timor. then East Timor know that they has been tricked, and ask to set back about sharing portions.

@EGASANJAYA Sorry, I am looking at India now which is one of the "booming economies" but all I see is a crap load of slums and a lot of problems, I see that a lot of the people do not have adequate education, healthcare or housing. I now look at Indonesia and see the same thing. What do you not understand? When the Indonesian GDP surpasses Australia's you will still have a shit load more people to take care of. Ever thought of that? My point still stands, I will have a higher standard of living.

@Kirkzzy what you do not understand economics? the more advanced countries and the faster the economic growth that will impact directly to the income of its people. and it was only a matter of time. at the time of your country productive labor shortages. if you still do not believe look for in any media anywhere on the map of world power in 20 years. trust me

@EGASANJAYA Except the fact that I am going to have a much higher standard of living as a result of my country's GDP per capita still being one of the highest in the world, and our quality of life and HDI staying in the top 5. I think I'd rather live in a country where I have a great standard of living than a country where I am not doing so well on the world average, there is corruption, yet I have this larger military that does nothing but police and rape my fellow countrymen.

This is only a matter of time. you're looking at all the media the next twenty years the world map of power will move to Asia. American china india and Indonesia will occupy the position of the 4th largest economy. at the same time Indonesia will have a military capability far from today. at the time of your nation do not have anything to compare my ass in Indonesia. you can be proud today. btw open globalfirepower. com to see your state ranks far taken inonesia in the military field

I confess a shameful ignorance of the affairs of southeast asian nations and was wondering if this was a potential conflict due to a crisis at the time or if this is a pure hypothetical. Justcurious if someone can give the historical background, if any, on this scenario. I know australia has a heavy involvement in south pacific security matters but ive never studied the details.
