HMAS Melbourne VS Indonesia & Vietnam In E-TIMOR 1979 pt1

It's The summer of 1979 in East-Timor and the newly elected democratic goverment in Dili has been overthrown by indonesian
opposition rebels, but now indonesia has invaded along with Vietnam her new ally in the region. Ships from the indonesian
and Vietnamese navy are now dlocading the entire insland of Timor. The Government of Austrailia has dispatched a hopsitol ship along with HMAS Kanimbla
to the aid the refugees in Viqueque. But the Aussie flotilla has come under attack from the viet-indo's forces.
Little does Jakarta know that HMAS Melbourne is hang'in around with 12 A-4 Skyhawks and 4 trackers, along with aircraft of the RAAF, I feel a serious Aussie ass-whoop'in comming.

I confess a shameful ignorance of the affairs of southeast asian nations and was wondering if this was a potential conflict due to a crisis at the time or if this is a pure hypothetical. Justcurious if someone can give the historical background, if any, on this scenario. I know australia has a heavy involvement in south pacific security matters but ive never studied the details.

@EGASANJAYA Sorry, I am looking at India now which is one of the "booming economies" but all I see is a crap load of slums and a lot of problems, I see that a lot of the people do not have adequate education, healthcare or housing. I now look at Indonesia and see the same thing. What do you not understand? When the Indonesian GDP surpasses Australia's you will still have a shit load more people to take care of. @EGASANJAYA Except the fact that I am going to have a much higher standard of living as a result of my country's GDP per capita still being one of the highest in the world, and our quality of life and HDI staying in the top 5. I think I'd rather live in a country where I have a great standard of living than a country where I am not doing so well on the world average, there is corruption, yet I have this larger military that does nothing but police and rape my fellow countrymen.
