I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that Miller originally had dark hair and the name McDonald/McDonnel instead of Kazuhira/"Kaz". It just makes me sad, just like Snake's codec-face.
... I just needed that out of the way. Zanzibar Land may be the same land importing squeaky sand from "Nihon" (Japan), but when it comes to genetically modified hamsters, they're not to be taken lightly.

Hahahaha, oh god, so that's where those deady poisonous Zanzibar hamsters come from! And right before the Metal Gear fight too?! (How exactly are they poisonous anyway? To the touch? Venomous bite? Do you have to eat them to be poisoned?)

If Snake touches them, he dies. Immediately. (I'm going to remind you that he's destroyed helicopters and been chased up twenty or so flights of stairs by the entire Zanzibarland army without breaking a sweat.)
You can't stand up in their vent, so it's basically impossible to get the cartridge without touching one of them.

And YES. It's the most amazing mood whiplash to go from deadly poisonous Zanzibar hamsters to the boss fight with Metal Gear and the retrospectively tragic stuff involving the fight in the minefield with Gray Fox and burning Big Boss to death. That's why I left in the conversation with Pettrovich and the slide into the Metal Gear hangar.
