I've only spent $6 on a dozen of eggs and it wasn't even pastured, just organic which is still good of course. I used to see that bright orange yolk every now and then when I lived in Jamaica. My parents thought it was unhealthy and contaminated so they threw it out lol.

Wow, I asked myself this question recently. Gotta say, Toad, great minds think alike! Also, I've bought dozens and dozens of pastured eggs from all the different local farms that supply them, and not one of them has given me a golden yolk. Ridiculously thick egg whites and unyielding yolks, yes, but never that gorgeous orange I've read about. But I want to support the way that they farm, so I buy them (and their chickens) anyway. Btw, the most I've paid was $8/dozen...I beat you! XP
It matters if you can afford it. The increase in Omega 3 is many times that of a conventional egg

@eMediaNow Right. But, the TOTAL amount matters. Around 150 mg will be DHA and EPA. That's minimal. It's cheaper to supplement with fish oil.

I pay $4 a dozen for pastured eggs from a farm which is cheap (in Canada) or about the same price as non-organic eggs in a grocery store.Organic eggs (grain fed) at some stores are $6.50 here! I used to buy those until I found the $4 ones.
The intensely orange yolks come from the chickens eating grass as WELL as bugs and I've found it's mostly in the spring and the peak of the summer.
