I agree with the fact that she swings too much.
On the other hand, Liú is quite complex as a character: I think she is inteligent and tries to manipulate Calaf by seeming to be a Mrs. Nobody. When, at the very end, she understand that she has lost the match, she decides to suicide maybe because she thinks that Calaf will hate Turandot after Liu's suicide. But, even after her suicide, she looses the game again.
That is only MY interpretation of the character.

She swings too much, and it doesn't look like very good acting.
Liu is someone who is secure and able and strong, to withstand all the pain.
Yes, she has a deep secret love which stings her, but she is strong and keeps it with her. And even when revealing it she shouldn't be throwing it all out like this.
Still, it's not my place to see cause I can't sing better than her :p

One of my favourite arias...don't know why no one talks about it...not the best performance here though
