Yes, very. And it is possible to get an AK to choke (i have.) I hardly believe that anything that was in service with 93 countries on all 6 permanently inhabited continents and has seen action in over 15 conflicts and earned the nickname "right arm of the free world" could be called anything but reliable. To quote gun author Ken Royce aka "Boston T. Party" "Since when did 93 countries agree on anything?"

G.R. stands for Granade, it closes the gas chamber for the use of muzzle granades...
I`ve served in a country that uses the FAL as main infantry rifle, and those bad boys are rough, and they also last forever, some rifles were over 30 years old and fired like a brand new one.

@elal757 In soon I'll be working as an gun engineer for the Brazilian Air Force, and probably this is the gun that i will work mor with ( and H&K G3). Very interesting assault rifle. Excelent video.
PS:srry for my bad english.

I'm VERY inclined to get this as my next rifle. Having the upper and lower able to be detached is a real advantage for travel.

@ParleyEstes Thanks dude for the reply... I sent my gun back to DSArms to have them figure it out and they found a section on my reciver that some how did'nt get cnc machined all the way and fixed the problem toltally at their cost with no hassle to me besides not having my FAL for about 2 weeks.

@TheCaferocker Your return sring tube may not be installed (swaged) properly. That will bind up the last 1/4" of bolt travel.

Thanks for doing this video. Can you add the tools list to the info section? Thanks.

Very nice rifle!

disassembled, into the upper and lower receiver, it is technically not a gun right?

I was a tiny 11 year old kid when I had to run with my FAL above my head till I passed out because I called it a 'gun' instead of a rifle! It seemed like half my body weight and probably was. I also had to learn how to strip it. It was an R1 version. Had to attend compulsory cadet camp in South Africa. They'd wake you up for mock terrorist raids at 3 a.m. in the middle of the bush firing blanks from your FAL. I hate rifles now...oh and guns! Oh and those terrorists are running the country now!

@elal757 Hey dude thanks for the reply, yeah I was suprised also with the good reputation DSA has to have this issue. But sure enough I contacted the dealer I got it from and they contacted DSA and now their going to take care of it for me for free. They also said the same thing you did about it might be the finish on the gun that it could be the issue. Once again thanks
I have the same gun as you I just bought it and have been having an issue with it maybe you can help whenever I charge the gun my bolt never shuts all the way it jams up about a 1/4" everytime I try to load it

@TheCaferocker I doubt DSA would have sold a gun with improper headspace or similar, but there is a possibility that your gun may have serious issues that should be diagnosed by a smith. However you may have the same issue mine did initially - it needs to be worn in. Parkerizing is a rough finish and on mine the friction caused the same issue. So the best solution is lube, and LOTS of it. Take the bolt/carrier apart and lube all contact points. Also lube inside of rails and the hammer face.

any info on how to replace the barrel?
vampire847 10 months ago
@vampire847 Changing the barrel on a FAL is a complex gunsmithing task, and somewhat outside the scope of my videos. There are plenty of people that have built these rifles at home and documented it on the internet, many of these pages have the info you're looking for.

Do you know what type of permit you need for an automatic upper reciever, and where to buy one once the permit is acquired? Thanks
