Wow, that has to be the most ANAL response to the use of a siren in the dead of night I've ever read/heard.
Approaching intersections and traffic signals definite use to make sure what little traffic is there is aware of the response. But to run the siren just for the hell of it when it's not warranted is ridiculous.
Anyways, nice video nonetheless.

Whenever I hear you guys come down Hawley, onto Lincoln and head past our house, I always feel a little safer knowing you and your colleagues are out there. Be safe, guys.

@nyfireman911 What about a car coming out of an alley, or a car around a bend making a left turn off the road. If the law says the siren has to be on. It has to be on. Nothing anal about it.
Would be kinda stupid to video tape the response than flagrantly not put the siren on for everone to see, including the state police.
Also, I don't get people like you. The siren might bother some people so lets leave it off. To me, that does not make any sense.

@sabethafiredept Yea, Departments were, I live use only when necessary. It's 4 A.M, it will annoy the crap out of people.

Boss, can you please post the actual wording?
Any exceptions?
What a ridiculous requirement.
I would ignore it.
Law Enforcement likely would not care.
I would have driven this run entirely silent.
We can silence the siren when communicating with base, taking blood pressures, talking with patient, a trying to ease pt anxiety AND WHEN NOT NEEDED as here.

I actually read pennsylvania's state laws about responded to calls. If you have your emergency lights on responding to a call an audible siren must going until you arrive on scene

My dept. in kansas had a 4 a.m. house fire recently, we only use our sirens when neccessary even though state law says we have to use both

Alot of people at our place are like that too but every now and again a special state trooper comes to town and will issue you citations for breaking laws. Luckily we never got any

I still go with rules are rules and you have to follow them. State police can go after you for not using them and if u get into an accident and your siren wasnt going, which a good example happened not too long ago on ff close calls you are screwed and you will get sued. Id rather annoy people then to go to jail.
