Museums and universities across the US are being targeted by a suspected art forger who has tried to donate works, complete with auction house records, that the museums now believe to be fakes.
I uncovered Mark Augustus Landis in early 2008 while at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. I am now in Cincinnati and Mark Tullos contacted me after 'Fr. Scott' gave them a forged Charles Curran oil on panel. I found well over 35 museums thus far that have been hit including the National Portrait Gallery and the SF Art Institute. I have a report now over 50 pages including images of the items he is pawning off. He is now getting any money for what he is doing. He likes to dupe museum staff.
