  • 1st well bitch stop complaining and go live some where else you choose to live there they didnt put a gun in ur shit face and told you u have to live in p.a. ....2nd those flares dont burn any product they are transfering the product to tanks and burning the vapors.3 hahahahahahahahahahaha...4 hahahahaha........................

  • Why compain about the emissions heading towards the residential area? The (Currently named Valero) refinery has been there since 1901.... Those house were built around the refinery. Not the other way around. Those residents CHOSE to move right there next to this place....

  • The product is not burned. Instead it is slopped back to the holding tanks where it can later be re-ran through the process.

  • This reminds me of the old saying, "kiss her where it stinks - Port Arthur Texas".

  • hell yah look at that money

  • while it is true that flaring does negitivly affect the environment, it nessisary to prevent equipment damage from unit overpressure. also, liquid product (such as gasoline and diesel) is never burned in a flare. the reason for this is that if a liquid is sent up the flare stack it will begin to fall as soon as it exits the flare tip. this "beltching" is extreemly hazerdous as it often causes very large fires. flare systems are designed to catch and hold liquids while letting the vapors excape.

  • don't double post, you jerk!

  • Those are vapor flares, they don't burn product. They are most likely burning because the plant has begun transferring product and when this is done, vapor must be burned off to release pressure. They raise gas prices because they CAN.If you think a refinery is burning product, you are out of your mind, because no amount of gas price raising would pay for that kind of loss.

  • Those are vapor flares.VAPOR flares. They are not designed to,nor do they burn product. When a refinery goes into shutdown mode, all product is transferred to shore tanks and all pipelines are pushed into those shoretanks. Empty tanks have product put into them, full tanks have some taken out and everything is evened out so as to prevent tank collapse.
