  • This is exactly the guitar tone I've been looking for! I'm only just properly discovering Kings X.. I've been wondering how to get the tone Eddie Van Halen got at the beginning of songs like Runaround.. that crunchy, yet crisp and twangy sound.

What exactly is the setup here?

  • @stonerh This is pretty much the same gear used. I also used an alesis midiverb 2 and a alesis meq

  • @stonerh type in Ty Tabor interview part 4. shows u the gear he was using around this era

  • where did you find this guitar?..very rare to find...you play it well..a little better than ty.

let me guess the tuning DADGBE or Drop C you could use..???

  • @tel5690 Ebay. I don't know about the better then Ty part. LOL Thank all the same though. I'm pretty sure standard tuning on this if I remember correctly. thanks for the kind words and best to ya.

  • What effects did you use?

  • @speedRickspeed Alesis MidiVerb 2 setting 62 for chorus.

  • Hey man great job figuring it out - spot on, as well as the tone. This is one of my favorites as well, along with another one from this record, "Not Just For The Dead"!

  • GREAT job ! Blown away....

Always loved the guitar riff in the chorus...good stuff !!

  • Great tone man... pure greatness

  • managing Ty's sound - that's what impressed me the most...certainly, you've got the hands, too. Creating some of your own music, too?

  • Hey Man - great job. I was listening to this song when going through some tough life lessons in the early 90's. The solo never fails to move me to tears. No-one has a tone like Ty - 'cept you, it seems!

  • Fantastic job controlling the gain by riding the volume.

  • Watch how he's riding the volume knob to control the gain..thats REAL guitar playing right there :-)

  • That sound is really awesome, you nailed his tone!
