My grandfather (Samuel A. Peeples) created and/or wrote many t.v. westerns. He created The Legend of Jesse James (it was filmed at Iverson's Movie Ranch). I myself grew up in this area, and rode my motorcycle around these locations, all the while not knowing this historical significance. My grandfather wrote the 2nd t.v. pilot that sold the Star Trek t.v. series. I appreciate your video & all the hard work you put into it, THANKS!! It is sad to see this history dismissed/forgotten/built on.
Time was when all us Front Row Buckeroos (and buckerooettes) knew the rock formations of Iverson's Ranch like we knew our backyard. The Devil's Doorway, a rock suspended between boulders, probably was the most familiar. How many times did the Durango Kid hide there to escape the pursuing posse or to surprize the bad guys. The famous Nyoka Rock is also there, as it appeared in the Republic serial "Perils of Nyoka." I agree, it should be into a national monument, just like the Grand Canyon.
Thanks for posting the video. Next month, the wife and I will be stopping at the 'Garden of the Gods' and Corriganville on our way to the Cowboy Festival at Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita.
beautiful comparisons of then and now; I'm western locations buff and always checking this stuff in the old westerns especially Iverson and Corriganville
