How fantastic is this song? It seems to come from the 6th dimension. Nobody can generate atmosphere like this poetic genius - how fortunate we are that he chose to blend his written words with music. The song is now 40 years old and still sounds like it is 40 years ahead of its time.
I love the video that is created here. It's like the videos I made during my acid days/cough syrup days. Very nice video, down to earth and no BS just visual and auditory bliss.
I don't think it means a great deal. I think he is saying that love comes to find you and links that to an idea of it being in the space between two acts or objects. It is just a piece of art exploring an idea and using it to create some really good lines e.g. between the ocean and your open vein, between the snowman and the rain.
I love the atmosphere he creates with songs like this and I think that this is all he is trying to do in some of his songs.

@judashellraider Nah, that song is great as well. Leads right into his next album, which I love. With the recording by Phil Spector. Spectacular.

Except for song #4, "Songs of love and hate" is a masterpiece

My favorite Leonard Cohen song. Is that a first pressing of the album between the lava lamps?
