Capt. Honson Lau came up from Miami to join me on a great day in the Mosquito Lagoon. 12 Redfish were landed this day!

  • Can i ask what's the trash can on the front of the boat for? And, why such a high platform? Wouldn't the regular deck work? I'm just a curious kayak fisherman that wonders about equipment I see.

  • @johnandmyra1997 - The reason for a higher platform is to spot fish easier, the more elevated you are, the farther you can see, and the farther you can see a fish, the better the chances of not spooking it. The "trash can" is called a stripping bucket. On a windy day, fly line gets blown all over the place causing tangles while casting, with the bucket, you strip line in there to prevent all that to happen.
