it was a save on an empty net situation. and the dude had a WIDE OPEN net. and he coulda tied it to put the game into OT.
Not as good as you've been told eh? Though i personally think the save fleury made against the leafs was better then this, even though the pens lost.

the best save all time. one of the reasons we won the cup

i think i better save would have been controlling the rebound.

@kbeats Don't title this video as "The Save". Kirk McLean can only have that.

@lollollol425 Dude, if you know him then you shouldn't be answering quesitons about his family to the internet public. Great, you know him. Want a medal? Protect his privacy.

lol. the only save Pietrangelo ever made.

Great Save. Yes. THE SAVE. Nope. 1994. Kirk Mclean. Game 7. Double OT against Calgary. Greatest Save though is probably Caron though, whole building thought Philly scored.

reminds me of Evgeni Nabokov on O'neal in the playoffs. and it were maybe better than this
At 33 Im still playing goal. Was a backup in high school and wore #40 cause I loved Frankie. Still have my old Heaton L2000 glove(its retired now) He was the reason we won the cup with that save. Do you have any other clips of Frank??

I'll look, but as of right now that's it. It's my favorite save.

Yeah, this save isn't the best quality of all time, but because of who Pietrangelo is (just a backup) and because of the situation (pivotal game which led to the Cup for the Pens), THAT is what secures it in Pens lore as "the save."
Thanks for posting this!

How about Sebastian Caron in '05 against Philly. I think the player was Brian Savage?

I have that save as well, but I didn't upload it. Multiple people have, though.
