America's Missing Children

Every year, more than 200,000 American children are abducted by a member of their family, usually a parent. In cases where a foreign-born parent is involved, the abducted children frequently end up in the native country of the abducting parent. Recently, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke up on behalf of Janet Greer, an American woman whose daughter was abducted 12 years ago by her estranged husband and taken to Egypt. Under U.S. law, these abductions are a federal crime. But because they involve other countries, pursuing them can be expensive and many cases remain unresolved. VOA's Julie Taboh has more.

my son is abducted to Ecuador and still or governement giving aid and help to ecuador !!!!!. they kick or embassador from ther and they shut down the office for child abdction in ecuador, and our governement still help them???. some thing more imbortant then our kids. and no one help me in the state. only they told me, press charge aguinst the mother? I just hope to every one he/she. reunited with ther kids again.

It happens right here in the good ole U.S they don't help and they don't enforce these laws. It is illegal to turn the children against the other parent, but it happens and is protected by the courts. THIS IS A FACT

Yes, I feel for any parent who is put through this living hell.

My daughter, Sarah Joy Slater, born in Duncan, British Columbia to me, a Canadian my wife, Helen Octaviano, a Filipina was abducted by Helen and her new husband Brent Smith to Bremerton, Wa., USA sometime in 2005... I last had access with Sarah August 2004.

As an American mother, how does Ms. Clinton justify an American doing this to a friendly Hague Convention country Canadian? Sarah is on my Facebook now; have a look.
