f0.95 isn't a fair test against f1.2. You should put the aperture up to 1.2 on the Nokton otherwise the images won't have the same depth. If you do this I would love to see another video.

@IsaacSloan not true, two different sensor sizes (5D2/ M43) therefore we use a multiplication factor of 2 for focal length, which means the Nokton 25mm has the same field of view as the 50mm on the Canon. Now when it comes to aperture, the Nokton 25mm 0.95 BEHAVES like a 50mm 2.0 would on the Canon. To be fair, I would have had to change the aperture on the 50mm mounted on the Canon, to 2.0! This test is not about fairness but to show the maximum bokeh on two different sized sensors.

@mike24p Thanks for the fast response. I was aware that 25mm at 4/3 was equal to 50mm at full frame. I wasn't aware that the aperture would double too. I have a 50mm f1.8 on my Canon D5. Does that mean that it actually lets in more light than an fstop of 0.95 on a four thirds camera?

@IsaacSloan, no, what it means is, it behaves like a 50mm/2.0 in terms of DOF, take two shots, one with the 50mm 1.8 mounted on the 5D and one with the 25mm Nokton mounted on the GH1, (same distance to subject, both lenses wide open) and the result will pretty much look the same

@poprip - you are right these 2 setups are not in the same price category ($2000 vs $3600), unfortunately for those who need af during live events there is no AF on the gh2 with the nokton lens but you should mention that the gh2 also have the advantage of not having a time limit on recording as the 5dmk2 has (not important for film but important for interviews or live events ). improved bitrates on the gh2 (firmware hack required) is also a good point for the gh2.

as far as image quality is concerned, the red of the bricks from the 5dmk2 seems more close to the real world bricks colors (bricks in the gh2 are too orange) and the black seems deeper also so i prefer the 5dmk2 (i own a gh1 so there is no bias).

in order to have a price/perf comparison i would love to see a comparison at roughly the same price so gh2+nokton 25mm f0.95=$2000 against 5dmk2+50mmf1.8=$2300. can the faster lens on the gh2 compensate the smaller sensor in low light ?
