Do you have sleep apnea or snoring problems? Many times the only reason you are suffering from snoring or sleep apnea is that your neck and throat muscles are out of shape! Here are five easy exercises you can perform everyday to help bring tone and strength back to your throat and neck muscles. For more information email Dr. Kepo'o at drkepoo@ohanachiropractor.com or go to his website at ohanachiropractor.com.

*Disclaimer: These exercises have been shown to help improve snoring or sleep apnea conditions that are obstructive in nature. If there are any other complications that are contributing to your snoring or sleep apnea condition, then these exercises may not work for you. If these exercises do not help to improve your condition within 4-6 weeks of performing them on a daily basis, please contact your local wellness practitioner for a full evaluation of your condition to find any underlying condition contributing to your individual condition. If you find that your condition worsens or if any swelling, pain, or unusual tightness occurs after performing these exercises, please discontinue them and contact your local wellness practitioner.

  • i am back again...

Although its too soon to Jude but last night I didn't have apnea for the whole nigh (I think) so I am very pleased to feel that these exercises r worked in 2 days.... but I really can't do that blast bone as I can't swallow while tongue is out and when I do swallow my tongue has to go back half the way it just wont stay like urs unless I bait it too hard which may end up cutting it..

    Thanx

  • That is great! Even though you can't keep your tongue out all the way, keep doing the last exercise the best you can. You will find that the more you do it, more easier it will get to keep you tongue out and the easier it will get to actually swallow. Keep up the great work!!!

  • i was recently told i have severe OSA. The respiratory therapist, besides being totally jaded, said these exercises don't work. He has OSA himself and said nothing would work besides CPAP for both of us. Hmm. I still believe this MIGHT.

  • @rudyesco08, what is there to lose by trying these exercises for 2-4 weeks? Having to use a CPAP maybe? Having to miss out on those days of fatigue? Missing out on having heart disease? All I can say is that there is nothing to lose except all the negative aspects of having sleep apnea. Have you tried the exercises yet? Update me on if these help you out or not and give your respiratory therapist a nice ALOHA from me :)

  • Hi Dr. Kepo!

Thank you very much, i was frighted last week... I went to bed and i kept waking up over and over with shortness of breath, i keep trying to rest sleep, finally after being exhausted trying to sleep i found myself waking without hardly is air in my lungs a very frightening experience, i was alone...

  • ill try your exercises. my question is- i have a cpap that doesnt work for me. when i put it on my nose i cant get enough air to breathe with it so its useless. even on high pressure. do you think my airway is too narrow or some other reason ? i had a deviated septum removed. its clear.

  • Hello Doc.....these exercises have ***significantly*** reduced my sleep apnea and snoring! Especially helpful were exercises #2 and #4. I even video taped myself overnight to prove it was working! Thanks so much! Gene :-)

  • Thanks Dr. Kepo'o . Great vid! I appreciate you sharing these.
