Antique French Gilt Brass Clock
by Japy Freres.

~ French - Circa 1875 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled & working ~~

A beautiful gilt brass clock in excellent condition. Much of the original gilding remains which is in lovely bright and clean condition. The style is Baroque and features a slender architectural case surmounted by an elaborate urn. To the arched top there are mythical creatures climbing and the clock sits on four feet modelled as sea creatures. The dial is enamel on copper and features a delicately painted floral swag. It is complete with finely fretted blued steel hands and convex glass. The clock is beautifully detailed and well finished.

The French movement is by Japy Freres and has the makers 'Grande Medaille D'Honneur' mark on the movement backplate. It is of excellent quality and is in lovely clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum has been replaced. It runs for 8 days on one wind and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent with clean and bright finish to the gilding and there are no losses. There is some minor wear to the original gilding. The dial is also in very good condition with just some very light hair lining. A stunning clock, read for your collection.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required
