  • Unfortunately Platinum, as much as we sure hope it would work, nitrous doesn't really do a good job sedating the child just by itself.

  • do you work for small smiles???

  • I don't, I have my own practice. Thanks for asking though.

  • i'm sorry people think you're only in it for the money m8 when clearly you're not

its' just, with the media slamming every single public service out there every other day with scandals its' difficult to know who to trust

and most ppl take the easy way out of this by saying everyone in the world sucks

i try to see the best in ppl so i am gonna assume you were brave enough to do what needed to be done, and tried to get at least some rapport afterwards so he doesn't fully hate u

  • Well, you can please some people, some of the time but you can't please all the people all the time.

  • Oh it's painful to see a baby as the patient.

I hope everything will be fine there.

  • Shouldn't you just give the kid Nitrous oxide if they are panicked and won't sit still?

  • @LeshaAnn Actually that's what I do, if I place a patient in the papoose board, I want mom or dad to be there, it sometimes helps calm the patients down. These kids are stronger than you think and often mom or dad holding them down doesn't stabilize the kids enough to get the job done. Imagine trying to find a flea on a dog that won't stay still. It almost makes you dizzy.

  • @kotetsu131 - Well then why not CHANGE THE RULES and allow the child's PARENT to come back with them? No one could object to a parent holding down their own child for necessary Tx, right?

  • I don't get some of the people here doc, just because the kid can't tolerate cleaning out decay doesn't mean we don't do it, because it gets worse, and there is no easy way. I saw another doc give nitrous oxide and all the people moaned about how we are drugging our kids and how it's wrong, and I suspect the people here would too. They don't realize how difficult this scenario is because they have never had a noncompliant pt., so I wouldn't waste your time with them. Keep up the good work!

  • I'm sorry people react negatively to this. It's better to have the decay treated than not. It may have been uncomfortable for the child, but my kid screams when I put her in her car seat. That doesn't mean I jeopardize her safety for a few minutes of restraint and discomfort. I'm sure the kid's mouth was numbed up first.
