Throwin' high and mighty traps
Countless fire and flaming road
Using ideas as my maps
"We'll meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Half-wracked prejudice leapt forth
"Rip down all hate," I screamed
Lies that life is black and white
Spoke from my skull, I dreamed
Romantic flanks of musketeers
Foundation deep, somehow.
Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.

Girls' faces formed the forward path
From phony jealousy
To memorizing politics
Of ancient history
Flung down by corpse evangelists
Unthought of, though, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
(MUSICAL INTERLUDE)

Ah but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
My guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too noble to neglect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite clear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
I'm younger than that now
I'm younger than that now
I'm younger than that now

  • Opening with the unmistakeable, accurate, clear and strong voice of Allan. Hardly any backing....you can't fake vocal talent like that!

  • Very 60's with the whole arrangement, The Great Hollies Harmony Makes it Work. The Hollies might not have done the definitive versions of certain covers, but to their credit they were never ever bad.

  • like Byrds way better

  • I like the hollies but t he best version is still by The Byrds, even Dylan is not too good in it.

  • j adore cette version elle et trop belle je l ecoute en boucle elle mes de la joie a mes journeé avec une grosse pointe de nostalgie

  • @MrRonnieG

Thanks for suggesting a listen to the Hollies version, its great! What a wonderful song. Take care!

  • When Graham Nash and Allan Clarke were singing up front, the Hollies were one of my favorites in the 60's. McGuinn, Clark and Hillman sang my favorite cover of this Dylan song BUT this is a unique and enjoyable version of my all-time favorite song from my youth.

  • @rwells47 Yes they are truly great! So much talent, and no one matches Allan Clarke when it comes to express emotions. Thank you for sharing your videos

  • Love it!!!

  • LINDA CANCION

  • @nipsterstang- you are welcome Jim! Ron

  • Nice version, Ron! I am so glad they didn't try to replicate The Byrds version. That would have been impossible. Thanks for this one! The unmistakable Hollies harmony!

    Jim

  • @blueticecho- thanks Michael! It is tough to beat the Byrds on this song but the Hollies did a fine job too! Ron

  • As A Byrds and McGuinn and his 12 string Ric purest after a few listens this isn't too bad..Keep up the good work Ron on trying to up date us old fuddy-duddies,, MIchael.
