Watch as we fire-up the Joe Sherman Racing 396 in our 1965 Altered Wheelbase Nova "Storm Warning", and then take her for a Maiden Voyage through the neighborhood! Today is March 9, 2010 and we started this project 1 year, 8 months and 29 days ago! You can see the entire story, from start to finish, at www.alteredwheelbasenova.com! Funny Cars Forever!

  • It's a Griffen aluminum radiator for a a '65 Nova. 2 core. Griffen P/N 6-564AC-BXX. I also got their "Pusher" SPAL fan -- P/N PF-06. Also PF-91 Harness and 185 degree thrmostat.

We're running a 160 degree thermostat, and the engine temp has not gone above 172 degrees -- even idling for 5 minutes in the hot Southern Calif. sun! This setup really worked for us with this 396. Best of luck!

  • I don't know whats better, seeing this video or meeting you two at Vic's Garage last weekend but it was a hoot to see the video and run into you there.

Like I said "ITS FINISHED" don't ruin your art work. Its beautiful and I will post the short video I took of you leaving Vic's soon.

Now you got me thinking about building one next if I can stop breaking parts on my '57 Chevy Gasser. Randy & Jeany

  • @bigran57fan Great meeting you 2 at Vic's. We'll see you at Good Guys May 15th - anxious to see your gasser up close and personal! And I like your suggestion - it IS finished! See you soon! Dave and Pat

  • I hate Chevy but I do like the 396 a lot. I also dig the 383 and those who build them.

  • hey mate wondering because i have a big block chev and its running really hot what type of radiator do you run and how many cores are there

  • The 396 big block was a great engine choice.

  • That's one mean machine, the perfect storm. Put up the warning flags.

  • AWESOME CAR!!! My dream machine!!!

  • Movie star!

    Garage performance!

    Great job!!!!!!

  • Thanks for calling this car what it is, an altered whaal base Nova and not a gasser which is the Default term for all the know nothing Fast and the Furious fans out there.
