http://thisismylife.co.uk - The extremist group behind an anti-war protest targeting British soldiers in Luton has vowed to stage similar demonstrations at other homecoming parades. Two people were arrested for public order offences after angry scenes between a small group of protesters and bystanders in Luton town centre on Tuesday during a parade for 200 soldiers returning from Iraq.

About a dozen people shouted "terrorists" and held placards saying "Anglian soldiers go to hell" and "butchers of Basra" as soldiers from the 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, paraded through the town. Despite the group's threats, a parade by the Royal Anglian Regiment in Watford today passed off peacefully with no protests.

Gordon Brown and moderate Islamic groups led the condemnation of the protesters, with the prime minister dismissing them as a "tiny minority" and adding: "We should all be proud of the outstanding work our armed forces do."

@nagamora 1)You can't justify targeting innocent civilians. If any Afghan civilians were killed it was in cross fires or because the Taliban set off bombs in public spaces.

2)We don't care about an Empire we haven't had for 50 years, we fight because we are led by idiots in suits who thought it would be a good idea to go and fuck around in some desert that no one gives a shit about. 3)The British army is among the world's best and we've survived far worse than a few mad muslims without US help.

@nagamora My brother is fighting in Afghanistan right now for his country and his family. I am well a aware that the invasion of Iraq should never have taken place and it was just George Bush Jr trying to be his dad, but the war in Afghanistan is justified as far as I'm concerned. It's the world's biggest terrorist training camp after Saudi Arabia.
