Some of my flights from Treble Cone from the 2009 Queenstown Speedfly Boogie.
Almost all flights are on my Nano13, with the exception of the scene with the Falcon and the scene after it of the downwind landing in rotors (f*cking dumb), both of which were on an XT16. Next boogie is december 12th- 19th 2010. See you there.

  • Hey karl, nice flying, HUGE improvement from your scary 2009 vids :)

But remember speed + height ( = energy) are your friends in aviation, especially gliding, they give you options, if you ain't got one you better have plenty of the other.

e.g. 7:40 landing accidental? What if 2 steps further & over 100ft vertical drop with wing not flying :( More speed could have used the energy to clear the road, or 7:35 away from hill (left) turn to get height. Would be even worse with the Bullet GT.

  • @bg929 You're right, I had eliminated my options. As far as turning left I was too late and LOW to do this safetly by the time i sussed i might not 100% make it on the line i had chosen. Turning too low can be fatal, it felt like a gamble at the time. I could emergency land 100% (or so i thought ) so i slowed & commited to that. But it was fairly shit flying and i ended up a bit closer to the edge that planned ; ) I'll be treating the GT with great respect, don't worry, I know its a death trap.

  • @bg929 Partly to blame for the sloppy decisions that led to the off landing was the fact that this was my last flight of a very busy day (15+ flights) and I knew it was going to be my last too. I was being cocky and way too comfortable on this particular run. So to your SPEED + HEIGHT, i would also add GOOD ATTITUDE as your 'friends in aviation.'

  • This is AMAZING! I'm so glad you found me and subscribed to my channel :) I have been wanting to learn to paraglide for years. This might be the year that i finally make it up into the air - you've inspired me...

    THANK YOU. :D

  • Nice footage, I like the gulley run @3:50. TC is one of my favorites too!
