Al-jazeera producer being harassed by the Metropolitan Police

This video producer was detained by the Metropolitan Police at the Gaza demonstration at the Israeli embassy in London on 29 December 2008.

There was no apparent reason for him to be detained but he was searched under the Terrorism Act. He was threatened with being handcuffed and details of contacts he had in his wallet were recorded by the police.

This is ILLEGAL - the policeman is acting UNLAWFULLY as he can ONLY search by the persons CONSENT after clarifying was he DETANING the person and for what REASON - so the only way is to arreset him for a crime and the guy should REFUSE to a search and this to be DONE AT THE POLICE STATION.

THIS IS WHY THESE BASTARDS DO IT TO AVOID PAPERWORKK ETC.

The guy should have shouted 'ASSAULT - BY A POLICE OFFCIER' as he was being touched by him.

I think there is a right and wrong way to handle situations but police officers do have a tough job to do and there is a reason that guys like the one on here are in the situation they're in. The police only ever seem to get scrutinised for stuff like this and not enough praise for the hard work they do in society.

This search by police wouldnt be valid / legal anymore.

They need reasonable suspicion to search under the terrorism act.

 It has been ruled recently that all previous searches (like this one which didnt require a reason) was illegal by European Court of Human Rights.
