God'll Ne'er Let You Down - a rare Sufjan Stevens song that sounds like it could be a B-Side from Seven Swans...

  • are the sufjan stevens a christan band?

They sound really good. The first time I heard them was on the OC

  • Sufjan's just one guy, not a band, and he is a Christian yeah, but while this influences and informs some of his music he's not *just* a Chrisitan musician, he writes songs about pretty much everything. Seven Swans is his most Chrisitan album, the rest of his stuff only really has snatches of it.

  • @ElDudeBrother He even claims to not be Christian in interviews for example Casimir Pulaski day he talks about going to bible study and nothing happening

  • @baboonsunshine I think the thing that "never happens" in Bible study is his friend getting better (i.e. getting cured of the cancer of the bone). Haven't heard of these interviews, any links/quotations?

  • he is a christian musician. he might be different from mainstream christian music, but almost every one of his songs has, on at least a deeper but discernible level, reference to his faith in christ.

many of his songs (which, in my opinion, happen to be the most beautiful) are overt professions: casimir pulski day, concerning the ufo sighting, for the widows in paradise, man of metropolis steel, predatory wasp, vitto's ordination song, etc...

most of his music does more than "scratch"

  • Flipping Love Sufjan Stevens. What an absolute bloody legend.

    This some is amazing.

  • @baboonsunshine The person I was responding to implicitly claimed that singing in a song about how prayer doesn't cure cancer is the same as stating that one is an atheist.

I don't know about whether his first album reflects his personal beliefs, though he is a Christian.

  • In this time of changes in my life, this song is my support. I believe

  • Sends a shiver down my spine every time I listen

  • @magicalhats15 Yes but for his first album seven swans he claimed it was more historical then personal beliefs but

  • I believe he went to a Christian school but does not claim to adhere to any one religion and considers himself a Spiritual being.......see MTV interview!! :)

  • @SuperAlexander1001 it does to me.

  • @stephogalapolos all in one band. god this would be awesome :D

  • love this song..

  • hahaha hahaha the sufjan stevens-like multiple sufjan stevens'

  • @baboonsunshine Acknowledging that prayer doesn't cure cancer isn't even close to claiming not to be a Christian.
