I'm Oliver Tooke, I'm 19 years old, and I'm currently taking a year out of education to travel and work.
I recently went to China and under took a project critically looking at Chinese society, focusing on certain problems such as wealth gap, embracing of all western trends, prejudice against people of rural background, social competitiveness, money and status obsessed youth, challenge to authority, amongst other issues which have resulted from China's huge economic boom and the CPC. I also did a medium format series on the diminishing hutongs in Beijing.
All the photos were taken in Beijing and Shanghai. All photos (except 2) were taken on film, and all 35mm B&W photos were enlarged on Ilford multigrade paper.

That was an awesome slideshow. You really captured the Chinese people balance or imbalance really well. I love how u went into the hutong of BJ and the lanes of SH to capture real life... not just the commercial side of things.
I love your lighting, very exquisite! You have great potential.
Tell me what you think of my China slide show when you have time.
Just type in "China picture slideshow" in the youtube search area.
Thanks again!
