Steven Pressfield's quintet of acclaimed, bestselling novels of ancient warfare—Gates of Fire, Tides of War, Last of the Amazons, The Virtues of War and The Afghan Campaign—have earned him a reputation as a master chronicler of military history, a supremely literate and engaging storyteller, and an author with acute insight into the minds of men in battle. In KILLING ROMMEL Pressfield extends his talents to the modern world with a WWII tale based on the real-life exploits of the Long Range Desert Group, an elite British special forces unit that took on the German Afrika Korps and its legendary commander, Field Marshal Erwin Rommel, "the Desert Fox."

  • Rommel had no fuel no tanks and was outnumbered 4 to 1 and go check the facts he kicked thier asses for what he had, he made VWs into fake tanks with plywood on both side painted to look like Panzer IVs and took the mufflers off and put chains on the back bumpers to make tons of dust and he out fought and out manuvered the British and with only 72 tanks he made over 400 retreat many times and The Sas did a great job but they didnt defeat Rommel! Hitler did!!

  • Honestly i really like Steven Pressfield, he is a brilliant writer, but this short movie was not that exact. What really beaten the Rommel, was lack of supplies, due to british attacks on german convoys from Malta. His tanks were unable to move becouse they had no fuel+ammunition. And Germans didn´t conquered Malta, due to lack of resources and soldiers becouse of operation Barbarossa, that was strike on soviets...And Monty was almost totaly incompetent...Patton and Alaxander did some nice stuf

  • DON'T LET THE ZIONIST HISTORIANS DESTRYING THE ROMMEL LEGACY

  • The original LRDG were nearly all New Zealanders..the finest soldiers in the world. Such a pity some of the negative commentson here from Americans who only want to hear about the Americans being heroes.

  • @nalemanni Claus von Stauffenberg's and Sophie and Hans Scholl's entire families survived the war and there were certainly others convicted of treason whose families were not also executed. Yes, there were some purges which did affect some family members and associates of those convicted of treason, but one cannot say that "the entire families" of all those convicted of treason in Nazi Germany were also executed.

  • @vatonorteno David Erving reveals the details in his book "The Trail of the Fox". The punishment of the family members would take place off the record, so its no surprise that there aren't many sources. Manfred Rommel himself also spoke of what he was saved from because of Erwin's actions during his testimony at the Nuremberg trials. Hope this helps

  • @nalemanni Please cite the source for your contention. I can find no record, for example, that those convicted of treason such as those who conspired to assassinate Hitler and members of the White Rose who were executed after being convicted of the same charge also had their entire families executed in the process.

  • @vatonorteno Apparently you didn't know that if you were convicted of treason in Nazi Germany, then you AND your entire family is executed.. not just you. He chose suicide to save his family. Even in his last minute before death, he was an honorable man.

  • @WW2GermanMilitaria SAS were very good even in their beginnings during WWII but, definitely they didn´t defeat rommel and no allied general defeated him becouse of his skills, but as i mentioned before becouse of hitlers decision.

  • Rommel is the only General/Feild Marshall i respect and like(hence: the tribute i made).

He never agreed to kill prisoners or civilians(even jewish soldiers) he went up against Hitler due to Hitler being branded as a "mad man" by most of the Wehrmacht Leaders(including Rommel). He also disagreed with the killings of innocentsby the SS, so did some of the Wehrmacht leaders(again) but they never said anything about the killings, most likely the fear of going up against Hitler.

  • @Rooivalk789 Which is why he mentioned the SAS and all that went behind enemy lines

  • uuhhmmm Mr here needs to re evaluate his historical facts... He says Rommel invented alot ( he s a good commander, dont get me wrong ) but in fact he used the fruits of von Rundstedt, von Manstein`s thought, and had alot of help from his a1`s...

''promotion to DAK?'', ''inventing schwerepunkt?''... lmao
