Enjoy the jungle..but as one who has lived in jungle villages in Mexico..just beware of the rainy season when it begins...I was amazed at how many snakes emerged...it seemed like the friggin plague of ancient Egypt..lol...Fortunately we had native folks who could handle them..but man...everyday one was being chased...and my friends...the beauty is one thing...but that bushmaster is NOTHING to mess with. 2nd only to the black mamba.

Love the idea, but you really should give us some more details, like: how much is the land selling for? For how long can a foreigner be owner of land/property in Ecuador. Your suggestion for other people to come up with the money to buy the land so you can build your idea on it would for many sound like a scam, so please explain further. etc. Next year i would like to come down to South America and travel around, including Ecuador. Perhaps we can meet?
Ecuadorians have there own methods of building houses and they use ancient techniques such as construction out of bamboo and adobe. Vilcabamba has few places where they build houses completely self sustainable. So my advice if you want to go there to live for good then please don't go with an american gringo profiteering mindset second learn local or new ways of building a sustainable house. THINK ABOUT THE NATURE AROUND YOU... PLEASE DON'T GO IF YOU ARE GOING TO DEFACE IT!!! Cheers

I am not sure about you guys but I moved to Quito like 3 weeks ago and I live near Quito in the town called Tumbaco. Now from what I have heard Vilcabamba is one of the most beautiful places in the world and the fact it is being constantly being raped by the foreigners makes it unbearable for the local community. The place very expensive if you thinking of buying some land in Ecuador so this makes only the rich ex-pats to buy the land and build concrete houses and what not. More info in nxt comm
