1978 "All-Star Comedy Tribute to the Palace Theater" Part 1 Carol Lawrence

For a 1978 special entitled "An All-Star Tribute to the Palace Theater," our studio in Burbank had been transformed into a replica of New York's Palace Theater, the Holy Grail of all vaudevillians. The special was produced by Sheldon Keller, a devoted vaude-afficionado (my word, but descriptive) and the lines throughout the show reflected his distinctive style. His writing partners, Howard Albrecht and Sol Weinstein (a team I had worked with on the Dean Martin Roasts),
also shared writing credit. Keller had begun his career as a writer on "The Sid Caesar Hour," wrote several movies ("Bona Sera, Mrs. Campbell" and "Movie, Movie" with Larry Gelbart) and produced several Hope specials in the 1970s. All ranked among Hope's best and this one was -- in
my opinion -- the best of the best. After watching it, I think you'll agree.
