I love how I've seen so many of these videos from google, and all they're really trying to say is...put up some good content. Why is that hard for people to understand? Just have relevant content, that hopefully has been proofed for readability and purpose, and have enough new content to keep people interested. Why bother trying to waste so much time looking for a magical formula, when you could be spending that on content quality. "It's like playing cards with my brother's kids or somethin'."

Quality content does not always get you to the top search ranking positions. In our niche, we have a site that is professionally designed & has the most quality content on the web for our topic. We were #1 in Google for over 2 years. After Panda & Penguin hit, we have moved down to #4, which has hurt our traffic a great deal. I have no idea now how to regain our former #1 position. We already have great original content, which is what Google claims they are looking for.
