I'm not saying this guy is doing it well. And I'm not saying he's this guy...but Rory Goddamn Gallagher used a flatpick playing slide. Of course he used hybrid picking here n there with it. Watch him do Too Much Alcohol. That being said after resisting for a bit I realized I was unable to play the vast majority of the songs I wanted to play if I was using a flatpick.

Loose the pick and use your fingers, it will give a warmer sound with less string buzz and opens up wider possibilities for lead and rhythm playing.

Ok, you just don't play a guitar like that with a flat pick (and sound any decent...).
