Captain James Cook murdered in Hawaii

Captain James Cook departed Hawaii after one month, to soon return to Kealakekua Bay as a result of a broken foremast on the Resolution. This decision proved costly as Captain Cook's return was not welcomed by the Hawaiians. This would result in taunts by the locals including the theft of their long boat. Captain Cook did not tolerate this and as a result attempted to take the King of Hawaii hostage until the long boat was returned. The Hawaiians resisted any attempt made to take their King onto the ship. Soon after Captain Cook and the Marines were forced back to the beach where they were attacked by the Hawaiians.

Today, 14th February 2012, we remember Captain James Cook met with his untimely death 233 years ago. I, for one, will always respect and see Captain Cook as the greatest explorer and navigator to ever set foot on this earth. RIP Captain Cook. You will never be forgotten in history.

squeeky805 Murder is murder, no matter which tribesmen killed Cook, or which lore they refer to regarding the history of the massacre. Because they happened to believe in living Gods that makes their actions excusable? Just because they never had the knowledge, courage or interest to enable them to discover the rest of the world doesn't mean they should not have been hospitable and helped passing explorers, no matter how many times they required assistance. We should want to help each other.
